For your business
Commercial auto insurance.
Keep your business moving with the right coverage.
What does it help protect?
Commercial auto insurance is designed for eligible vehicles used in business operations. Ownership, drivers, cargo, routes and the way each vehicle is used all affect the available coverage and pricing.
General information. Actual coverage depends on the policy.
Show how the vehicles support the business
Describe the business, the vehicles it owns or leases and what each vehicle carries or does during a normal workday. Include deliveries, equipment transport, customer visits and employee driving. Share where the vehicles are garaged and the territory in which they operate. This is more useful than asking for a generic business-auto price, because the insurer needs a clear account of the operation being presented.
Review owned, rented and employee vehicles
Make a separate list of company vehicles, vehicles the business rents and employees’ own cars used for work. Ask how each exposure would be addressed and whether hired or non-owned auto protection is appropriate. Do not assume that coverage for a scheduled company van automatically answers a claim involving an employee’s personal car. The policy’s covered vehicles, insured parties and conditions need to match the situation.
Understand the inputs that change the quote
Business type, vehicle type, location, drivers, driving history, claims and selected coverage can affect commercial auto pricing. Compare liability limits and physical-damage deductibles consistently across the options presented. Ask what information still needs verification and whether any requested protection requires a separate policy or endorsement. A premium indication is a starting point for review, not a promise that every vehicle or driver will be accepted.
Prepare for a complete application
Have a vehicle list, driver list, current declarations and available loss information ready, along with the desired start date. Include customer contracts or special insurance requests that need attention. The first web inquiry can stay brief; Daniel can explain how to provide detailed records through the appropriate next step. If several vehicles are involved, ask about fleet options and how later vehicle or driver changes should be reported.
Compare the details that matter.
The right quote should make the coverage easier to understand. Here are useful things to review with Daniel.
- Business-use classification and drivers
- Liability and physical damage limits
- Hired and non-owned auto options
- Filings or contract requirements
A little preparation. A clearer quote.
Prepare a vehicle and driver list, garaging addresses and operating radius.
Share current coverage and loss information if available.

Good questions
Know before you choose.
Will personal auto cover my business driving?
Some business uses are restricted or excluded by personal auto policies. Explain deliveries, equipment transport and other work-related driving before relying on a personal policy.
What do I need to get a quote?
Prepare a vehicle and driver list, garaging addresses and operating radius. Share current coverage and loss information if available.
Does requesting a quote start my coverage?
No. A quote request does not bind, change or cancel insurance. Coverage starts only when confirmed by the insurer or an authorized representative, subject to the effective date, policy terms and any required payment.
Should I mention employees who use their own cars for work?
Yes. Explain that use even when the company owns no vehicles. The broker can discuss hired and non-owned auto exposures and the applicable policy terms rather than assuming a company-vehicle policy covers them.
Does having several vehicles automatically qualify me for fleet coverage?
No universal threshold applies to every insurer or program. Share the number, types, use and ownership of the vehicles so the available arrangements can be evaluated.
What can make a commercial auto quote take longer?
An insurer may need additional vehicle, driver, use or loss information before deciding on terms. Provide accurate records and any contract requirements early, and ask which items are still outstanding. Carrier approval and binding remain separate from submitting an inquiry.
