For your business
General liability insurance.
Protection for the risks of doing business.
What does it help protect?
Commercial general liability insurance addresses certain third-party bodily injury, property damage and personal or advertising injury claims, subject to policy terms. It is often part of a broader business insurance program.
General information. Actual coverage depends on the policy.
Describe the work the policy needs to address
Tell Daniel what your business actually does, where customers encounter it and whether work continues at client locations. Include products you sell, services you perform and subcontractors you use. A broad description such as contractor or consultant may leave out important details. The purpose of the conversation is to match the operation with the coverage being offered and identify exclusions that deserve attention before you buy.
Bring the contract, not just the requested limit
If a customer, property owner or general contractor requires insurance, share the written requirements early. Ask about the requested limits, additional-insured provisions and any endorsements. A certificate can summarize policy information, but it does not itself expand the policy. Reviewing the requirements before choosing coverage helps identify requests that need an insurer’s agreement or a different policy arrangement.
Compare the scope behind the price
The type of product or service and its exposure to claims affect the liability insurance discussion. Compare coverage for your actual operations, the limits offered and relevant exclusions alongside the premium. Ask which business information the insurer uses to price the policy and whether any figures are estimates. A low quote is less useful if it excludes the work that creates your main exposure or fails a contractual requirement.
Identify what needs its own protection
General liability is one part of a business insurance plan. Damage to your own equipment, professional mistakes, vehicle accidents and employee injuries can require different coverage. If you also need premises or contents protection, ask whether a business owner’s policy is suitable. Bring current policies and a clear description of those exposures so Daniel can help organize the next steps without treating one liability policy as an answer to every risk.

Good questions
Know before you choose.
Does general liability cover professional mistakes?
Professional errors or omissions may require professional liability insurance. General liability is not a substitute for every type of business liability coverage.
What do I need to get a quote?
Describe your operations, revenue and subcontractor use. Share contracts that require insurance certificates or endorsements.
Does requesting a quote start my coverage?
No. A quote request does not bind, change or cancel insurance. Coverage starts only when confirmed by the insurer or an authorized representative, subject to the effective date, policy terms and any required payment.
Does a certificate of insurance change my coverage?
No. A certificate summarizes selected policy details. Additional-insured status or other requested rights must be supported by the policy and any applicable endorsements, not merely wording added to a certificate.
Does general liability insure my own tools and equipment?
General liability primarily addresses covered claims involving injury or damage to others. Protection for your own tools, stock or equipment may require business property or inland marine coverage.
Can a lower-priced policy still fail a customer’s insurance requirements?
Yes. Required limits, covered operations or endorsements may differ. Provide the actual contract requirements and ask the broker to compare them with the proposed policy before you proceed.
